“Beauty is the promise of happiness.”
-Edmund Burke
The desire for an aesthetic smile is of utmost importance to the elderly population, which requires the maintenance of more natural teeth. Advances in cosmetic dentistry offer new opportunities to help achieve favorable results in such a way that patients appear younger. This is achieved through cosmetic enhancement of teeth.
Cosmetic dentistry requires the accommodation of oral physiological function and is concerned with changes in color and shape, comfort, form, and appearance of teeth.
A myriad of techniques exist to correct a patient’s particular aesthetic dental concerns, such as smile analysis and assessment of teeth and gingiva, removal of stains, bleaching, resins and bonding, use of veneers and crowns, gingival reshaping, teeth alignment, and restorations.
Dental cosmetic treatment can potentially enhance an individual’s appearance and confidence. This can be achieved through accurate treatment planning to achieve health, function, and aesthetics.
